Frances Ann (Fannie) Brown Martin,
daughter of Judge Mark Thomas Brown and Mary Jane Moore died on Tuesday, 15
Oct 1931 at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 13 days at the home of
her daughter, Dollie May Martin Gorrell of 710 Walnut Street, Fulton,
Callaway County, Missouri after suffering a paralytic stroke six years
ago and after having a stroke about three weeks ago.
Frances was born on 30 Nov 1862 near New
Hartford, Pike County, Missouri. Her father, Judge Martin was a
pioneer and prominent resident of Pike County. Judge Martin’s
father, at an early age, emigrated to American from England, settled
in Pike County Missouri and was the first Postmaster at New Hartford.
Frances met and married William (Hurley)
Martin in 1881 and he died on 14 Feb 1891 after falling off a horse.
Frances remained in Pike County until 1913 when she moved to Fulton
and was staying with her daughter. Frances had two other
children but they died in infancy. Frances was a member of the Baptist
Church since 1894.
Those left to mourn the loss of Frances
were her daughter, Dollie May Martin Gorrel; two brothers, Clarence W.
Brown, St. Louis; Eleazer E. Brown (E.E.), Mineola, Missouri; aunt to
Bryan Brown, Concord, Missouri; many friends and good neighbors
Preceding Frances in death were her husband of 9 years, 11 months, 21 and
days, William (Hurley) Martin; two children in infancy; her parents;
and two brothers John Respino. Brown (J. R.) (1917), Perry, Missouri,
Mark Brown (1872), Thomas Quentin Brown (T.Q.). Brown, Bowling Green,
Missouri, Samuel Brown (1871), Mary Elizabeth Brown (1878), Ira Otis
Brown (1878)
Funeral services for Frances were held
in Thursday, 15 Oct 1931 and officiated by Rev. Dr. A. W. Tandy, First
Baptist Church Pastor. and he is interred in Hillcrest Cemetery,
Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri, United States.

Francis Thornton Meriwether, son of Walker Gilmer Meriwether and Elizabeth M. (Betsey) Meriwether died on Thursday, 20 Feb 1840 (note, the obit shows 20 Jan 1840 but that was a Monday, findagrave is using 20 Feb 1840 as the date of death), at the age of 20 years, 9 months, and 15 days at the home of his father, Walker Meriwether in Pike County, Missouri after a painful illness.
Those left to mourn the loss of Francis were his father, and his half-siblings, Elizabeth Mary Douglass Meriwether Wilson, George Douglas Meriwether, Franklin Montgomery Meriwether, and Alice Virginia Meriwether Block. Preceding Francis in death was his mother Elizabeth M. (Betsey) Meriwether (1821) and half sibling Alice Virginia Meriwether.
Francis is interred in Aberdeen Cemetery, Pike County, Missouri, United States.
